Application procedure

The University of Applied Management is pleased to welcome international Bachelor, Master and (Erasmus+) exchange students from partner universities. Please find all information about the application process below.

International degree seeking students

All of our degree programs are taught in German. You need to prove sufficient German language skills at C1 Level for full admission.

Before the chargeable online registration, we strongly recommend to use our free pre-check service for foreign school leaving and/or university certificates. For this purpose, please fill out the Pre-Check Form (only available in German), add the required certificates and documents (see document) and submit it to international-office@fham.de .

Official start of semester:

  • Summer term: 15th of March
  • Winter term: 15th of September

Official application deadlines:

  • Summer term: 10th of March
  • Winter term: 10th of September

Step 1 – Online registration

Have all questions regarding studies, fees and admission been clarified and are you qualified to study? Then log in to the application portal and fill in the required information. You will receive a contract confirmation by e-mail.

Step 2 – Upload documents to the portal

After online registration you will receive a separate e-mail with access data to the document portal.

Please enter additional information here and upload the required documents:

  • letter of motivation
  • digital health insurance certificate (submitted by a German statutory)
  • copy of valid identity card/passport + residence permit (if applicable)
  • passport photo (with the highest possible quality)

Additional upload (only if you have already studied in Germany):

  • certificate of study progress (for all semesters completed in Germany)
  • clearance certificate from examination office of previous German University + current grades (only if preliminary studies in same/similar subject as the UAM course you are applying for)

Step 3 – Submission by mail

The following documents are important for the binding admission and must be sent by post in an officially certified and translated form for authentication purposes:

  • Officially certified secondary school leaving certificate incl. subjects and grade summaries of graduation year in the original language + officially certified translation into German or English
  • Officially certified certificate of the passed assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung)
    • ADDITIONALLY REQUIRED FOR GRADUATES OF A STUDIENKOLLEG ONLY!
  • Officially certified bachelor degree diploma + subjects and grade summaries in the original language + officially certified translation into German or English
    • ADDITIONALLY REQUIRED FOR MASTER DEGREE PROGRAM APPLICANTS (also see additional subject specific admission requirements)
  • Notification of admission to higher education from the Academic Evaluation Office of the German Embassy (APS-Certificate) of the respective country of origin
    • ADDITIONALLY REQUIRED FOR APPLICATIONS FROM CHINA, VIETNAM AND INDIA ONLY!
  • Officially certified language certificate German. Only the following certificates are recognized:
    • DSD II (German Language Diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs – Second Level)
    • DSH / min. Level 2 (German language examination for the university admission of foreign applicants)
    • TestDaF /at least level 4/5 in each section, min. 16 Points total (Test German as a foreign language)
    • Goethe certificate / min. Level C1
    • Passed assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) subject „German“ at Studienkollegs
    • Telc C1 Deutsch Hochschule
    • NOTE: If your verified language level is below the above mentioned but at least B2 to CEFR or equivalent and can be proven by one of the above certificates, a mandatory interview is necessary! Please make an appointment for this.

Incoming exchange students (Erasmus+)

The University of Applied Management (Hochschule für angewandtes Management) only accepts exchange students from partner universities. You cannot apply directly, you must contact your institutional or departmental coordinator and apply through your home university and get nominated via E-Mail (international-office@fham.de) first.

Application deadlines for exchange students:

  • Winter term/full academic year (September-March/September): May 31; Learning Agreement due: July 1
  • Summer term (March-August): November 30; Learning Agreement due: January 1

The language of instruction of our regular degree courses of study is German. The entire course offer is open to incoming exchange students with sufficient prove of German (B2). Just e-mail us, which subject in German you are looking for and we try to find the right one for you!: international-office@fham.de
